Tasmanian Railways

John Reardon served as the Permanent Way Inspector for the Emu Bay Railway in Tasmania. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the maintenance and safety of the railway's tracks and infrastructure. He was deeply involved in the building and design of the rail from Emu Bay (Burnie Tasmania) to Zeehan and Queenstown on the West Coast of Tasmania.

The Emu Bay Railway, established in 1897, was a significant Tasmanian railway company. It operated a narrow-gauge line connecting Burnie to Zeehan, facilitating the transportation of minerals and passengers across the West Coast. The railway linked the Tasmanian Government Railways system at Burnie with that at Zeehan, further connecting to the Mount Lyell railway and allowing access through to Queenstown.
